National President Visits Banbridge

National President Graham Drummond was the surprise guest at our AGM Dinner on Saturday evening. Graham had been due to attend the Area 11 Rally in Newcastle at the weekend, but the event was cancelled at short notice. He contacted the Ireland PLC member Ken Kissick, who is a member of Banbridge Table, and he issued an invitation to join us at our event. Graham said he was delighted to be able to attend a Table meeting in Ireland and enjoy the "craic", and was looking forward to attending several more events in our area during his year in office.
Graham has proved himself to be incredibly talented, and you can see him sing and dance at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXk5rdBku-M

Ladies Circle Closes

Sadly, our sister organisation Banbridge Ladies Circle has now closed. The local Ladies Circle supported our efforts for many years, but has recently been struggling to get new members, and as a result was forced to shut up shop at their recent AGM.
It is sad to think that with such a strong Table as we have in Banbridge, that so few of our partners and their friends were prepared to keep this marvellous organisation going.

Banbridge Round Table helps local charity devastated by thieves

Local Tablers continue to be pro-active in supporting local community initiatives
The members of Banbridge Round Table have been supporting local community initiatives for almost 50 years, and on Saturday, they continued in this spirit when they provided local charity Angling First with secure storage for their site in Dromore, following the break-in at the site and the theft of thousands of pounds worth of equipment.

Table Chairman Dave Travers said “As an organisation we have always tried to live up to our unofficial motto – “we don’t just sit there”, and when we heard about the robbery at Angling First, a charity which does tremendous work with disadvantaged kids, we decided we would help.”

Of course, the simplest and easiest thing to do would have been to write a cheque for the charity, but the Tablers in Banbridge are not afraid to get their hands dirty, so they contacted Gary Wallace of Walcon Containers and office Units based at the Corbet, who agreed to supply and deliver a secure container at below cost price.

The Tablers then contacted Brian McCarten of Yellowhill Group Plant and Machinery Sales, who agreed to supply a LoadAll for manoeuvering the container into position, and Gibson Brothers, Banbridge, who supplied a Low- Loader to bring the LoadAll on site. The Tablers then met at the Angling First venue in Dromore and delivered the secure container to its final position on site.

Banbridge Round Table would like to thank everyone involved for the assistance they provided in this project.

Superstars of Rock leap to help Banbridge Round Table with Fundraising effort

Rock supergroup Def Leppard have provided a signed guitar which will be raffled to help build a school in India
Banbridge Round Table have continued their drive to raise funds to build a school in India, and their latest effort has been aided by the support of Rock Legends Def Leppard. The band were contacted via local entertainment agency Larchwood Events, and were more than willing to throw their weight behind the project. As the band are currently in Dublin for a studio session, it was a simple matter to get them together for the signing.
Round Table Chairman Dave Travers said that it was one of the strengths of Round Table that they have a huge network of contacts in all fields, and Banbridge Table were very lucky in this case as two of our members are involved in the entertainment industry, and knew exactly how to make the contacts required.
There are a limited number of Raffle Tickets for the guitar available, with only 330 printed and on sale at £10 each. The tickets can be purchased from any member of Banbridge Round Table.
